Last week on ReBelle Beauty’s blog, we talked all about ways to brighten and lighten your hair. But what about the dark side? What about those of us who live life with darker roots or enjoy the grown out but I choose this life techniques? This weeks blog is all about color melts, shadow roots, and tap roots.
Color Melt. Color melts are perfect for creating that “lived in” look. Color melts create depth and color dimension within your hair color. It is a low maintenance hair color technique that lets you embrace the darker side (your natural roots or a darker color than the rest of your hair), while also letting the lightness and brightness of highlights or balayage shine. The darker color is applied to your root and melts seamlessly into the brighter parts of your hair. Typically this is about 3-5 inches of contrast. Color melts are perfect for brunettes, high contrast blonde hair, and summer to fall hair transformations.
Shadow Root. A shadow root is hair technique in which a darker shade is applied directly to the root and drops down about 1-2 inches. It’s great for those who love their bright hair but was a lower maintenance hair color, that allows for better outgrowth. It’s meant to create a noticeable depth at the root without bringing the color as far down and as blended into the bright hair pieces. It is the perfect option for a lived in rooty hair color.
Tap Root. A tap root is where you will see the least about of depth while still featuring a small amount of a darker shade root. Root taps are for those who want to feel as blonde and bright as possible but helps aid in a soft outgrowth.
